Tottenham Hotspur's Michael Dawson was leaving White Hart Lane this summer for Queens Park Rangers, but according to latest reports, the defender will stay on at the club.
Despite the fact that a deal has reportedly been agreed between the two London clubs, Dawson doesn't want to move to QPR and is doing everything he can to stay at Tottenham.
Michael Dawson has dug his heels in and is refusing to leave Tottenham. The 28-year-old is determined to do everything he can to defy Andre-Villas Boas' wishes and stay and fight for his place.Queens Park Rangers have had an £8 million-plus offer for Dawson accepted [by Spurs], but he has not agreed to personal terms and is reluctant to make the move across London.
Dawson's situation at Tottenham is now a rather peculiar one, as the defender is well down in the pecking order at White Hart Lane, but wants to try and fight for a starting spot against Jan Vertonghen, William Gallas, Steven Caulker and Younes Kaboul.ueens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes had indicated earlier in the week that Dawson's move to the club had stalled after the two parties had failed to agree on personal terms. He was quoted via The Sport Review as saying that:
"At the moment, it's not where I hoped it would be. It may change closer to the transfer window closing—perhaps we'll revisit it—but at the moment, it's not progressing."Deadline day is very hyped up these days. The excitement of it is always there and I've done some great deals in the past on the day."Hopefully we'll have done our business [with Dawson] by deadline day, but if we haven't, we'll be part of that process once again..."
Thus for the moment, Dawson's deal to QPR seems to be off.
The defender does want to remain at Tottenham Hotspur, for now, and he will resume training with the North London club this week in preparation for their English Premier League fixture against West Bromwich Albion.
It is still very conceivable and possible that the defender does accept his fate and move over to Loftus Road during the summer transfer window, but for now, Tottenham Hotspur will remain his destination.
Good luck to anyone that can figure this transfer out.
I guess it isn't called the silly season for nothing.
Will Michael Dawson remain at Tottenham or move to QPR?
